Last month, Year 5 visited the National Waterways Museum in Gloucester as part of their local history and geography unit. They learnt about the history of Gloucester Docks and why a canal was needed to be built as a safer and more reliable alternative to the River Severn. In an additional science challenge they had to make a floating boat out of a piece of Plasticine which would hold the heaviest load. During this they learnt about forces and the importance of distributing weight correctly when loading a boat.
