Year 8 visited RAF Cosford as part of their unit on WWII and the Cold War Era. During the visit we were fortunate to hear from a Blitz survivor who had been young evacuee from Liverpool. He was sent to northern Wales before being sent back to Liverpool to care for his father at the height of the Blitz! Afterwards year 8 had a ‘protect and survive’ workshop on the dangers faced from nuclear attack during the Cold War. Some members showed excellent survival instincts although one group did spill the ‘toxic’ waste! Finally we toured round the museum taking in all the amazing aircraft from WWI to present day and the Cold War exhibition. For many of the class the highlight was the 4D simulator – some went on twice!
