The Bee Happy Beekeeping Club at Berkeley School

The members of the Bee Happy beekeeping Club are presently working hard to build frames and 2 hives to receive their 2 colonies which arrive in the middle of June. Over the past 6 months the students have been learning about the Honey Bee Apis Mellifera (Latin name) and raising money to buy the equipment to build the bee hives and manage the bees.

As part of their planning the students produced a business plan for the Trustees in order to get the green light to acquire some bees and home them on the school grounds. The bees will be homed in the orchard which the students all agree is the “perfect location for the bees to live and produce delicious honey!”
