Foreword by Mrs Lucy Sherrin – Berkeley Campus Head teacher

‘To become a world-class, Learning to Learn school, where every student is happy, valued and prepared for life ahead’.

This is our vision at Berkeley Campus. When our students are at school, we want them to feel secure, happy and valued in a protected and safe learning environment. We want them to learn to be self-directed, inquisitive learners – who can transfer these skills to the work-place – becoming self-motivated employees and quick-thinking, resilient individuals who approach problems and challenges with a ‘can do’ attitude.

I am very excited that I am Head teacher at Berkeley Campus in these exciting and innovative times. I wish to build on our success as an ‘Outstanding School’ and take it even further so that we not only continue to excel in all areas but also to grow and develop: in our teaching and learning, in ensuring that pupil welfare and safeguarding is absolutely paramount to the fabric of our school and in the way we develop our students’ spiritual and moral welfare – teaching them today to become the responsible citizens of tomorrow.

The next few years will undoubtedly be an exciting and challenging time at Berkeley Campus as we continue to develop and embed the practice of Self-Directed Learning (SDL): a philosophy and pedagogy which defines our school vision enabling our students to learn how to learn.
